Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to pick-up my car?

A copy of your valid, confirmed TKO Car Hire voucher and a valid driver's license and credit card in the main driver's name are required. It is often useful to bring a further means of identification – e.g. a passport.

  • E-mail confirmation (rental voucher)
  • Original driving license
  • Original passport or ID card
  • Your credit card

Please note that only a full license held for a minimum of 1 year with no endorsements will be accepted. Some car rental companies may require an International Driving Permit as well if you're renting outside your country of residence. Different car rental companies have different requirements, so please make sure you check the rental car supplier Terms and Conditions as well. Vouchers are emailed to you within 48h of the receipt of payment and confirmation of your vehicle.

Are all fees included in the rental price?

In the majority of cases our rentals normally include the following: Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Theft Protection (TP), local taxes and location fees, airport surcharges, road fees and unlimited kilometers. You’ll pay for any optional extras (such as child seats and GPS devices) when you pick your car up, along with any young driver, additional driver or one-way fees. Any additional charges will need to be paid directly at the rental desk in the local currency. Keep in mind inclusions will differ between car rental companies. However, the full inclusions for your particular rental will be clearly shown when booking and also on your rental documentation.

Can you guarantee that the car on the voucher is the car I am going to receive?

TKO Car Hire, like all car rental brokers and suppliers, cannot guarantee the specific make or model you will receive at the rental counter. However, you are entitled to a vehicle in the same category holding the same number of passengers and with the same luggage capacity. Our website includes a full description of each car type, including the typical number of passengers and pieces of luggage each will accommodate.

Is there a fee if I need to cancel or change my reservation?

There is no fee to change a car rental booking provided that you contact TKO Car Hire before the end of the rental period. There is no fee to cancel a car rental booking provided that you contact TKO Car Hire 48h prior to your date of pick up. A fee equivalent to three day’s rental will occur with any cancellations within 48h prior to collection. If you fail to notify TKO Car Hire of your cancellation and are considered a "no show," the cancellation fee is 100% of the rental. TKO Car Hire does not refund any unused days if the customer does not show up, shows up late or returns the vehicle early.

Please note that the car rental company reserves the right to refuse a car to any customer who fails to turn up on time without all the necessary documentation. In such cases the customer will not be entitled to a refund.

Where is the TKO Car Hire counter located?

TKO Car Hire is an independent travel broker and does not represent any particular car rental company. Your voucher will clearly state the address of your vehicle supplier. In case of an airport pick-up it will state whether or not the supplier has a desk in the terminal. Some car rental companies offer a Meet and Greet service at airports (meaning they do not have a counter at the airport and will deliver the car to the airport for the customer). This will be clearly stated on your voucher if this is the case. You will also find this information for the car rental company in the pick-up and drop-off details.

Who can drive the car?

Only persons listed as drivers on the Car Rental Agreement can drive the car. If you require additional drivers, please include them in your booking request. You may also add additional drivers at the rental counter when you pick up your car. An additional fee may apply and this will be paid at the rental counter (unless specified otherwise on the TKO Car Hire voucher). All persons driving the vehicle must be in possession of their driving license at all times.

I have not received the confirmation e-mail. What should I do?

Please check that you provided the correct e-mail address. If you made a booking more than 24 hours ago and you have not received a confirmation e-mail, the most likely possibility is that the e-mail was blocked by the Anti-Spam service of your e-mail account. Please, check that the confirmation e-mail is not in the "SPAM", "Junk Mail" or "Unwanted Mail" file of your e-mail account. If you cannot find the confirmation e-mail, please contact us via our website.

How can I obtain my voucher if I did not receive it?

If you have received your confirmation e-mail but there is no voucher attached, please click the link in the e-mail and print out your voucher. TKO Car Hire can e-mail (PDF or HTML format) a copy of your reservation voucher to you at any time.

What happens if my flight is delayed or cancelled?

If your flight is delayed or cancelled, please e-mail our team or the car rental company as soon as possible. If you have already provided us with your flight details, the car rental company will be able to track your flight. Most car rental companies will hold your car for you for an hour but different companies may have different policies regarding delays. TKO Car Hire accepts no responsibility for and shall not be liable in respect of any loss, damage or changes to your plans caused by flight delays or cancellations.

What insurance does my rental have?

Most car rental companies require the rental car to have Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP). Both policies will be either:

  • included in the TKO Car Hire package, or
  • purchasable from the car rental company, or
  • provided by the customer's credit card company.

The type of cover will depend on the car rental company and the location but it will be clearly shown in the Terms and Conditions during the booking process, and also on the confirmation voucher.

What shall I do if the car breaks down, or if I am involved in an accident?

In the case of breakdown, an accident or mechanical difficulties, you must call the car rental company immediately. The car rental company will inform you of the exact process when you pick up your rental car. The car rental company must give its authority for repairs or replacement cars. Keep copies of all relevant documentation you are asked to complete. This may be needed if you wish to make an insurance claim. If a hire car is involved in an accident or is stolen, insurance cover and refunds may be linked to conditions such as a requirement to report the incident within a set period of time. As a general rule, contact the rental company immediately, together with the police, asking them to produce a written incident report for the car rental company.

When will I have to pay for the rental?

When will I have to pay for the rental?

There are different payment options available, which are stated in the booking process. These vary depending on the car rental company and location.

  • PrePaid Deposit – pay an amount at the time of booking to secure the vehicle and pay the remaining balance at the time of arrival at the rental desk.
  • Fully PrePaid – pay the full amount for the vehicle at the time of the booking.

Can I use my airline miles towards my car rental?

TKO Car Hire does not accept airline miles or credit card points, however you can enquire about this with the local rental company upon checking out your vehicle.
